MUSIC: Toh Bad- Niyola

My first video post :) I first heard this song about two days ago and I loved it. It's done by Nigeria's Niyola, a member of Banky W's group EME. Enjoy!

Verse 1
I love you
You love me
Oh baby I know it’s true
But sometimes it’s crazy
The kind of things that you do
I’m tired of trying to be your number one
I love you (I no go lie)
I love you (I no go lie)
I’m trying to use my head
The more I try, the worse situation is getting
I’m trying to say goodbye
I feel the hurt inside
I think you got me bad
Baby I no go lie

Chorus
Ife yi ga o
Ife yi le o
Ife to ma dun dun dun bi oyin
Te legan ba soro
Lojo ton ba koro
Da won lohun pe adun lo n gbeyin ewuro
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Na you get my heart
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Them say
Bobo you bad o
Bobo you bad o
But I love you
Bobo you bad o
you bad o
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
I love you

Verse 2
I need me
You need you
Oh baby I know it’s true
But sometimes it kills me
The kind of things that you do
But sometimes I’m trying to be your number one
I love you (I no go lie)
I love you (I no go lie)
I’m lying in my bed
Trying to forget memories but is taking over me
I’m trying not to cry
Tears are hard to find
It’s had to let you go
Baby I no go lie

Chorus
Ife yi ga o
Ife yi le o
Ife to ma dun dun dun bi oyin
Te legan ba soro
Lojo ton ba koro
Da won lohun pe adun lo n gbeyin ewuro
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Na you get my heart
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Toh bad o (toh bad o)
Them say
Bobo you bad o
Bobo you bad o
But I love you
Bobo you bad o
you bad o
Yeah yeah

How many times
Tell me how many times
I’ve tried to run away from you baby
How can I live without you (ha ya)

How can I live without you (ha ya)

WRITING: Makeup, A Blessing Or A Curse?

I should think it was yesterday or the day before that I saw something interesting on Facebook. A friend from high school had put up a status which intrigued me. This is what she wrote, "The best trick the devil ever did was making women believe they look better with make up on." This had me thinking.

The follow is an extract from wikipedia under the heading History Of Cosmetics:

"The history of cosmetics spans at least 6000 years of human history, and almost every society on earth. Some argue that cosmetic body art was the earliest form of ritual in human culture, dating over 100,000 years ago from the African Middle Stone Age. The evidence for this comes in the form of utilised red mineral pigments (red ochre) including crayons associated with the emergence of Homo sapiens in Africa.[1][2][3][4]
Archaeological evidence of cosmetics certainly dates from ancient Egypt and Greece."

I know makeup has been used for a very long time, I just didn't know how long. I won't get into that. After all, this isn't a history lesson. I'll pose this question. Why are we defined by what we have on our face? Is this the epitome of beauty? I have nothing against makeup. I think it's safe to say that many women would agree with me. I suppose men too. My take on makeup is that it's supposed to enhance your features. I remembering getting that from somewhere but I can't just put a finger on it at the moment.

I think the worry is when one becomes dependent on makeup. There is no harm in makeup but when you become so attached to it that you aren't free to move without it, then there is a problem. I'm no dermatologist but I like to think that your face needs to breathe. Personally, I don't happen to think always smearing it with makeup is a very healthy choice. That's not to say you shouldn't try and groom your face and make it "attractive". How about you take a day off and give your makeup brushes a rest :) You know, have yourself a breather.

My makeup is pretty basic.I wear eyeliner and mascara and occasionally some shadow on my eyelids. If I need to step it up a notch, I wear foundation too but that's pretty much once in a while. I forgot, I also add colour to my lips too. My eyes are fairly small and I feel like they look much smaller without them. I feel kind of funny without any liner or mascara but hey, that's me in all my small eyed short lashes glory :) I hope you too will be able to embrace yourself in all your glory :)

MUSIC: Beyonce

The internet was ablaze with the unexpected release of Beyonce's second self-titled album. It's been a while since I've been up-to-date with music, but I managed to listen to a few of them so far. Okay, five to be exact. Those were Mine, XO, Pretty Hurts, Drunk In Love and Blue.

It seems like Drunk In Love is a favourite for most people but of the few songs I've listened to off this album, I'd say XO is my favourite. I happen to like Blue as well. It's such a beautiful song. Pretty hurts, to me, is quite sad. I think it talks about society and how hard it is to be perfect. "Prettiness" Often comes at a price. Here's a link to the video, http://simplysebastian.me/2013/12/13/audio-video-pretty-hurts-by-beyonce/

All in all, I think it's a pretty good album. Is it different, I'd say yes. I like Beyonce most when she sings so I guess I'd say that's why my favourite song on the album is one of the slow ones. I'm not sure if all the songs have videos but you can find the audio on YouTube or iTunes.

MUSIC: My Top 20 Most Played Songs

WRITING: Instahater

Alo-ha! Today's post will be about "internet hating", mostly on Instagram. I'm on it myself and I happen to like it quite a lot. Besides that, I'm on a few other social networks; some of which I don't use so much. Today I am going to explain the phenomenon to you that is an "instahater".

 #INSTAHATER

I'll begin by answering the following questions:
  1. Who is an instahater?
  2. What is instahating?
For the first question: An instahater is somebody that may or not be following you but throws shades on your pictures.
For the second question: Instahating is the act of hating/throwing shade on pictures posted on instagram. This act can not only be carried out online but off the social network by word of mouth.

For those on instagram, I'm sure you've hated on a picture before. I don't mean leaving nasty comments but that does count. Honestly, I've never left a nasty comment on somebody's picture before. I just find that rude. I'd hate for somebody to do that to me. Besides, I think it takes a lot of energy to be nasty. If you don't like something, just scroll past it. If for some reason you are displeased with a post you can always state your views in a mature way or simply report it.

What I have done though, is some form of instahating. Let's say I see a picture and I know it looks good. You know, super pretty and all. I'll be like, 'It's not all that" roll my eyes and then say, "I'll like another picture instead." I'm female and I think I know the female thought process. Funny thing is that happened about two days ago. A picture was posted and I tried to critique it but I really couldn't. Guess what I did, I ended up liking it :)

That's all I have to say about the topic. Are these really internet terms? I don't know really. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they were. The idea for this post hit me a day ago and these terms kind of just came along with the idea. Anyway, I'll leave now before I start to ramble. Until my next blog post :)

MOVIES: Baggage Claim (Review)

I just watched Baggage Claim and I must say, I wasn't impressed. In as much as I'm a sucker for a good romantic comedy, I thought the storyline was a bit too far fetched. Watching it, I really didn't know how to feel about the movie. Then I thought I felt that way because I was half interested. I was multitasking between watching the movie and playing Candy Crush.

What I can say is that I found the soundtrack quite enjoyable. I googled the soundtrack to the movie and found out the title to one song I liked in particular. The was Dive by Usher. There was another song I liked but I can't seem to find it. Nevertheless, here's the link to Dive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIOntfVPBsw.

Back to the movie. As I was saying, I felt the story was a bit "too" much. It was relatively quite enjoyable to watch. There was a lot of eyecandy after all ;) I guess that made up for the story line a bit.

Let me some this up. Would I recommend the movie? Uhm, I'd say no. I have this one friend, if I remember correctly is the biggest romance enthusiast. If you're like her, I'd say watching the movie wouldn't hurt. All in all, I'd say this is one romantic comedy I'm not really a fan of.

Yet again, my review has come late. I think I should put more interest in staying updated :)
